PottyDog — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 22, 2025
Overview
PottyDog ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. PottyDog is private by design: your dog data lives on your devices and in your personal iCloud via Apple CloudKit. We do not operate our own servers for your dog data.
1) Who We Are and How to Contact Us
- Data Controller: PottyDog Team
- Email: pand0ra_Q@hotmail.com
- App Store: Use the support channel listed on the PottyDog App Store listing
2) What We Collect
We minimize what we collect. Information falls into these categories:
- Dog and Walk Data (you provide): dog name, optional photo, walk logs (time, status like “pooped”/“no poop”), and optional notes. Stored on-device and in your iCloud.
- Sharing Data (you control): if you share a dog via CloudKit, participant info (Apple IDs invited) is managed by Apple’s sharing system.
- Purchases and Subscriptions: limited transaction metadata and entitlement status from Apple and our purchase partner, RevenueCat (e.g., product IDs, active entitlement, billing country/region as available). We do not receive your full payment details.
- Notifications: whether you granted notification permission; device tokens are handled by Apple for CloudKit silent updates. We do not use tokens for marketing.
- Optional Photos: if you add a dog photo, it is stored as a CloudKit asset in your iCloud and synced to your devices and any participants you invited.
- Camera Access (QR scan only): if you use QR scanning to link/sharedog, on‑device camera frames are processed to detect codes; the feed is not sent to us or stored.
- Diagnostics (limited): standard app logs on your device; crash/analytics data may be collected by Apple if you opted into Apple’s analytics. We do not embed third‑party analytics SDKs.
3) What We Do Not Collect
- No precise location, contacts, calendars, health data, or motion/fitness data.
- No advertising identifiers; no third‑party advertising SDKs.
- No server‑side copy of your dog data; it remains in your iCloud.
4) How We Use Information
- Provide core features: logging walks, syncing across your devices and invited participants via CloudKit.
- Facilitate purchases and entitlements: confirm eligibility for premium features via Apple/RevenueCat.
- Maintain app functionality and security: prevent abuse and troubleshoot.
- Communications: respond to your support requests if you contact us.
5) Legal Bases (where applicable, e.g., EU/UK)
- Performance of a contract: to provide the app and premium features you request.
- Consent: notifications, camera, and photo access occur only with your permission.
- Legitimate interests: app safety, fraud prevention, and basic diagnostics.
- Legal obligations: comply with applicable laws, tax, or purchase recordkeeping as required by Apple/RevenueCat.
6) Storage and Sync
- On‑device: Dog and walk data are stored locally on your Apple devices.
- iCloud/CloudKit: Data sync and sharing use your personal iCloud account under Apple’s CloudKit. Encryption at rest and in transit is provided by Apple.
- We do not host your dog data on our servers.
7) Sharing and Disclosure
- With participants you invite: CloudKit sharing gives invited Apple IDs access you grant (view or contribute). You can revoke at any time.
- With service providers: RevenueCat (in‑app purchases and subscriptions) processes limited device and transaction metadata to validate entitlements; Apple processes iCloud and App Store transactions.
- Legal: if required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.
- We do not sell your personal information.
8) Data Retention and Deletion
- Dog data: You control retention in your iCloud. Delete entries/dogs in the app or remove the app’s iCloud data via iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
- Purchases: Apple/RevenueCat maintain transaction records per their policies and legal obligations. We do not store card or bank details.
- Support emails: Retained as needed to handle your inquiry; request deletion anytime.
9) Your Rights and Choices
- Access, edit, delete: Manage dogs, walks, and shares directly in the app; remove iCloud data via iOS settings.
- Permissions: You can change notification, camera, and photo permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
- Purchases: Manage/cancel subscriptions in App Store account settings; request refunds via Apple.
- Jurisdictional rights: Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (e.g., to object, restrict, or port data). Contact us for help; note that we generally cannot access your iCloud content.
10) Children’s Privacy
- PottyDog is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). If a parent/guardian becomes aware of use by a child without consent, please contact us.
11) Security
- We rely on Apple’s iOS and iCloud security (encryption in transit/at rest for CloudKit). No method is 100% secure. Keep your device and Apple ID secure.
12) International Data Transfers
- Apple’s iCloud and App Store infrastructure may process and store data in multiple countries. RevenueCat may also process purchase metadata internationally. These providers implement appropriate safeguards.
13) Third‑Party Services Summary
- Apple (iCloud/CloudKit, App Store, notifications): sync, storage, transactions, silent push.
- RevenueCat (purchases/subscriptions): entitlement validation and transaction metadata. See their documentation and privacy disclosures for details.
14) Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in‑app or via release notes. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Policy.
